We focus on much-needed services related to behavioral and mental health, early intervention in schools, LGBTQIA+ support, transitional housing for foster youth, and special education. As a leader in best practices pertaining to child welfare, Side by Side works with the most vulnerable youth in Marin, Alameda, Sonoma, and Napa Counties.

   Strategic Chief Program Officer Opportunity:

Side by Side is seeking a Chief Program Officer, an extremely important and visible position within the organization. As a crucial member of the agency’s Executive Leadership Team working directly with all levels of the organization and the Board, you will have a significant role in setting and implementing Side by Sides vision and strategy.

   What You Will Do:

  • Partner with the CEO in assuring continued development and implementation of a collaborative and trauma-informed culture throughout the Agency
  • Provide leadership and accountability to all programs and client services, deliver exceptional data driven outcomes for clients, maintain regulatory/contractual compliance, and support financial sustainability for all programs and services
  • Lead agency initiatives to improve clinical outcomes to measure agency impact
  • Develop and implement new programs aligned with the Agency’s mission, vision, values and service philosophy, the needs of our community, and consistent with industry best practices
  • Support key initiatives, including the goals to be a trauma-informed Agency and a leader in its areas of practice
  • Spearhead business development and work with Development for grant and funding initiatives while focusing on programmatic growth
  • Liaison with government agencies, the community and the public relative to funding, contracts, and delivery of services
  • Ensure the Agency keeps abreast of new and emerging clinical practices for our clients as they relate to our Theory of Change pathways of emotional, social, and functional well-being
  • Duties and responsibilities may change, be increased, or decreased based on the needs of the organization and a more comprehensive list of current responsibilities can be provided at applicant’s request

     Required Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge and passion for child/youth welfare, behavioral health, special education, and juvenile justice fields
  • Ability to work collaboratively within and across agencies and groups to achieve improved services and supports for children, youth, and families

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of success as a strategic/operational leader in the nonprofit, government, or private sector
  • Graduate degree in business administration, social work, clinical psychology, or Ph.D. in clinical/counseling strongly preferred. Advanced experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • Significant leadership experience of a community-based mental health organization preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years working in an organization that serves vulnerable children, youth, and families
  • Ability to drive, a valid California driver's license, personal automobile for use on the job, insurable by SBS’   insurance policy based on DMV record and personal vehicle insurance
  • Able to clear criminal background check with Dept. of Justice and FBI via fingerprinting
  • Proof of COVID vaccination.
