Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is currently searching for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Direct Marketing Manager.

The Direct Marketing Manager leads the strategy, execution and optimization of the direct mail channel to acquire, grow, retain and reactivate the one-time gift mass market donor audience. The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day direct mail marketing plan, will develop and deploy rigorous testing strategies as well as seek out solutions to improve efficiencies. The role will collaborate cross-functionally on an integrated campaign approach with online channels to drive the strategy and implementation of campaigns to drive mass market file growth and retention. This position also leads the execution of the direct mail channel in support of high-value donor audience, sustainer, stewardship, planned giving, membership and auxiliary recruitment needs via collaboration with sustainers, digital and membership strategists. The Manager will serve as the catalyst and growth accelerator propelling a large, national direct to consumer fundraising program towards growth and investment.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage internal team in the creation, planning, scheduling, and implementation of Direct Mail programs and campaigns
  • Work with strategy and procurement partners to optimize mail program and campaign goals
  • Evaluate statistical data and utilize for the basis of enhancing fundraising programs and campaigns
  • Manage procurement partner relationships responsible for the execution of creative design, print, and production of outsourced fundraising solicitations and marketing activities
  • Assist Director of Direct Response Marketing with the development of budgets for direct mail fundraising- related operations
  • Provide direction for DAV Membership Department in recruiting and life membership mailings
  • Work closely with Fundraising program managers (Corporate, Major and Planned Giving, Donor Relations, Trust/Foundation) and staff to optimize fundraising and organizational initiatives through an integrated approach
  • Oversee and manage the direct response team members to ensure they are equipped to perform their responsibilities at a high level and can achieve the desired short and long term goals for the direct response programs
  • Maintain a professional relationship with DAV National Headquarter Department heads to ensure proper communication and alignment on direct mail initiatives
  • Active involvement with trade associations, consumer advocacy agencies, postal, and government agencies, which impact DAV

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree and/or five years of experience in direct mail fundraising raising in excess of one million dollars annually through direct mail solicitations
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Strong analytical skills with a working knowledge of statistics and accounting
  • Marketing and creative experience
  • Knowledge of direct mail operations, creative, print, production and postal regulations
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000 - $105,000 per year
