Job Description:   

Care2 is currently seeking an entrepreneurial-minded Director of Business Development based in Washington, DC (Flexible). The Director will sell Care2’s services to nonprofit organizations, brands, and agencies that serve these organizations.  The ideal candidate will have several years of experience successfully selling products or services to nonprofits, or in a related field such as direct marketing, fundraising consulting and marketing, and will have a large network of industry contacts. Previous consulting, nonprofit, fundraising or digital experience is also a plus.   



  • Identify new opportunities with nonprofit and for-profit organizations, and with agencies that serve them -- including direct mail, interactive marketing, consulting and public affairs firms 

  • Prospect and forge new relationships to boost the number of nonprofits that Care2 serves 

  • Meet face to face with clients regularly to strengthen relationships and increase sales 

  • Monitor the success of campaigns and work with Care2’s client services team to ensure client satisfaction by meeting and exceeding client expectations at all times 

  • Represent Care2 at industry conferences and networking events, including via speaking engagements 

  • Able to lead thoughtful strategic conversations and build trust with clients and prospects 

  • Other duties as assigned 



  • Several years of successful experience working with nonprofits in sales, fundraising, consulting, digital strategy or business development  

  • Strong active listening, relationship building, consultative selling and client management skills 

  • Proven ability to establish and manage lasting, mutually beneficial business partnerships 

  • Network of contacts with leading nonprofits and agencies serving nonprofits 

  • Self-starter, dynamic and able to thrive in an unstructured environment with minimal supervision 

  • Superb writing, presentation and public speaking skills 

  • Ability to work quickly under pressure and multi-task 

  • Ability to travel for in-person sales calls and industry conferences 

  • Mastery of standard business software such as word processing, spreadsheets, slide presentations
