Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (“Fallen Patriots”) is a 501(c)3 organization that provides college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.

  • We are dedicated to serving the families of service members from all branches of the armed forces who have died as a result of combat casualties, military training accidents, service related illnesses, suicide, as well as other duty-related deaths as ruled by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Fallen Patriots is seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Accountant to work hand-in-hand with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer on all finance, accounting and reporting activities supporting Fallen Patriots’ operations. Essential requirements include a minimum of 3-5 years’ accounting experience, strong IT skills, highly effective communication and people management skills, and a proactive and meticulous approach. Salesforce and Intacct experience preferred. Advanced excel skills required.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


Financial Reporting

· Directly responsible for all Programs reporting to ensure management has the required information to direct the Programs team in a timely manner

· Consistently analyze financial data and present reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual grant reporting; monitor progress, prepare financial outlooks and financial forecasts and keep Controller abreast of any changes;

· Prepare project budgets and financial reports for restricted donations;

· Prepare financial analysis as needed


Accounting Functions and Financial Systems

· Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements;

· Assist in coordinating audit activity and prepare detailed audit schedules;

· Maintain accounts receivable and accounts payable and execute A/R and A/P transactions;

· Prepare scholarship payables and payments on a weekly (as needed) basis

· Reconcile the accounting system to the CRM (Salesforce) in real time.


Budgets, Cash Flow Management and Controls

· Assist in managing the annual budget process, providing guidance and support to Programs Department and other team members where needed;

· Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs and program budgets and actual expenses;

· Review balance sheet, income statements and sub-ledgers for accuracy.


Other Projects

· Support strategic and annual planning and participate in a wide variety of special projects, reports and initiatives as required

· Create and prepare reports on an as needed basis for management


REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Desired Experience

· Bachelor's degree from a 4-year accredited college or university;

· Prefer Bachelors or Advanced Degree/Certification in Accounting; CPA/MBA a plus with experience in non-profit accounting

· Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, demonstrating a clear increase in responsibilities

· Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software – Experience with Salesforce and Sage Intacct a plus

· Advanced Excel skills

· Strong experience managing reporting, budget development and analysis, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts payable and receivable and banking

· Advanced knowledge utilizing and maintaining accounting systems.

· Well organized, logical thinking decision-maker with an analytical, detailed approach to researching and problem solving

· Strong people skills; ability to manage work collaboratively across the organization.

· Excellent written and communication skills;

· Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management;

· Ability to translate financial concepts to individuals at all levels in the organization – including non-finance employees;

· Meticulous attention to detail – demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, organized, monitors own work to ensure quality;

· Independent problem solving ability;

· Customer-oriented, positive attitude; and
