Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the national umbrella organization for the nation’s leading network of women’s health care providers, educators, and advocates, serving women, men, teens and families. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of PPFA. For over 100 years, Planned Parenthood has done more than any other organization in the United States to improve women’s health and safety, prevent unintended pregnancies, and advance the right and ability of individuals and families to make informed and responsible health care decisions.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund seek a dedicated Sr. Specialist Securities Program to oversee donations through various financial security vehicles, such as Stocks and Donor Advised Funds. This role reports to the Director, Retention Marketing & Donor Services in the Direct Response department of PPFA.
The Direct Response department raises funds up to $25,000 from individuals through mail, telemarketing, canvassing, and online solicitations. The Securities program is an important part of Planned Parenthood’s fundraising portfolio, and has grown significantly in recent years. Donations via securities can only be directed to Planned Parenthood’s 501(c)(3) entities, and not to the Action Fund.
The Sr. Specialist will be responsible for the management of the gifts of stock and other financial securities, and the development and management of the department’s Donor Advised Fund program. They will serve as subject matter expert to Development Division staff members in order to align revenue and donor experience goals, monitor standards and procedures, as well as develop and implement new ones for maximized performance. They will develop and present marketing recommendations based on their analysis of all aspects within the Securities and Special Giving program. Other forms of special giving (e.g. workplace giving, peer-to-peer fundraising) may be incorporated into the scope of work in the future as well as the potential set up and implementation of Securities giving to the Action Fund.
The Sr. Specialist will manage the Donor Services intern as part of the PPFA summer internship program, overseeing the hiring process and assigned projects and tasks for the intern. Supervisory responsibilities may also include seasonal Temp at peak giving season.
The Sr. Specialist will develop, implement and manage the department’s Donor Advised Fund program as well as manage its established Stocks program working to elevate both year over year. They will be responsible for the processing and stewardship required in liquidating, recording and acknowledging gifts of stock and other financial securities. The Sr. Specialist will process over 1,000 gifts of appreciated securities from approximately 700 donors and institutions and $40 MM in revenue annually. The Sr. Specialist will work both independently, exercising their own judgement daily, as well as collaboratively with external financial institutions and internal partners within Development, Finance, and Office of General Counsel to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the process. They will monitor and input the received securities gifts daily, and diligently document all relevant stock information, as well as maintain up to date files on donor communication and intended donations. The Sr. Specialist will regularly review gifts to ensure all components have been documented and received and perform the required research to verify gifts prior to sale. They will conduct and present standing analysis on all aspects of their program as well as offer strategic recommendations to meet or exceed target revenue.
This role will also support the Donor Services team by assisting with inquiries from supporters and the public, updating donor records using Salesforce and EveryAction databases, and processing donations related to various Planned Parenthood entities.
The Sr. Specialist will regularly interface with key stakeholders including donors, prospects, inbound call center partner, PPFA and affiliate staff; primarily within the Development division and Finance; and brokerage and financial institutions. They will collaborate with other divisions to offer a positive donor experience as well as research and resolve potential disputes. The Sr. Specialist will maintain relationships with external vendors and serve as point of contact for all inquiries and requests regarding stocks and other financial securities. They will also be the point of contact for gifts made through Donor Advised Funds from supporters not in President’s Circle, Principle and Major Gifts or other portfolios.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
REQUIREMENTS / TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience required.
2-3 years of directly-related, progressively responsible experience in finance, stock market, direct response marketing, project management, development, and/or revenue operations.
Highly proficient with Excel, Google Suite
Database experience strongly preferred, especially familiarity with EveryAction and Salesforce.
