Classification: Full-time, Salaried/Exempt/37.5 hours/week (some evenings and weekends) 
Reports to: Reports to Provincial Council, collaborates across departments, particularly Finance and Communications. 

Position Summary 
The Director of Development will lead and manage the Atlantic-Midwest Province development efforts, focusing on fundraising, donor relations, strategic planning, planned giving, alumnae relations, special events, and grant writing. The role involves creating strategies to strengthen philanthropic support and managing a team to execute development programs effectively. Travel is required throughout the province, in particular to Bridgeport, Connecticut where Development staff is located. 

Responsibilities 

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive annual and multi-year fundraising strategy with measurable goals; regularly track, analyze, and report progress to the Provincial Council.
  • Donor Management: Manage and personally cultivate a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects through strategic moves management, including in-person visits, solicitations, and stewardship.
  • Grant & Gift Oversight: Oversee grant writing, donor database, and donor acknowledgment processes.
  • Analytics: Oversee the integrity and strategic use of the donor database (Raiser’s Edge/NXT), leveraging data analytics to inform decision-making, segmentation, and campaign performance.
  • Leadership & Management: Hire, mentor, and lead the development team (including staff and volunteers).
  • Budget Oversight: Develop and manage the development department budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and alignment with fundraising goals.
  • Marketing & Communications: Partner with the communications department to develop compelling, mission-driven messaging across all fundraising channels, including print, digital, and social media. 

Experience 

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and goal achievement
  • Management or leadership experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills needed
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/NXT platform
  • Event planning
  • Ability to lead and direct others
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of grant writing
  • Expertise in Prospect Research to identify and cultivate donor relationships
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to build and implement advancement plans
  • Experience working within a faith-based, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization preferred.
