The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH) advances the practice of women’s and gender-related healthcare through education, advocacy, and professional development for Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners and other clinicians. The Director of Education leads NPWH’s learning portfolio to deliver high-quality, equitable, and clinically relevant education across in-person and virtual formats. 

Position Summary 

The Director of Education is responsible for the strategic design, development, accreditation, delivery, and evaluation of NPWH’s continuing education programs, including the Annual Meeting, virtual courses, all continuing education (CE) courses housed on the learning management portal, and webinars. The director’s role ensures educational excellence, instructional integrity, and evaluation of learner outcomes, while meeting accreditation standards, driving revenue, and member value. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategy & Leadership 

  • Responsible for the multi-year education strategy to align with NPWH’s mission, strategic plan, and equity goals. 
  • Serves as NPWH’s education lead and staff liaison to relevant committees, workgroups, faculty/speakers and partners.
  • Establishes annual objectives, budgets (working with CEO), timelines, and key performance indicators for all continuing education initiatives. 

NPWH’s Annual Women’s Healthcare Conference (2 ½ Days in person) 

  • Leads the end-to-end conference program development including theme, learning objectives, abstract management process including peer review agenda development, and all aspects of faculty management. 
  • Partner with Meetings/Marketing on attendee experience, pricing, and onsite program execution. 
  • Manage faculty. This includes working on contracting/letters of agreement, disclosures, honoraria, and compliance. 

CE Portfolio & Virtual Events 

  • Plan and produce year-round CE (live and enduring) including webinars, microlearning, journal-based CE, and /skills courses. 
  • Apply evidence-based instructional design and adult learning principles; ensure accessibility and inclusive pedagogy. 
  • Oversee Learning Management System operations (catalog, credits, certificates and transcripts, evaluations, tech vendor relationships). 

Accreditation, Compliance & Quality 

  • Maintain CE accreditation standards 
  • Ensure all materials and activities meet clinical, regulatory, and brand standards (e.g., FDA/OPDP where applicable, unbiased education, fair balance). 
  • Implement a continuous quality improvement cycle: needs assessments, evaluation of learning outcomes, and annual program review. 

Faculty, Partners & Sponsorship (Content Integrity) 

  • Recruit appropriately credentialed faculty for learning activities. Ensure diverse faculty and provide speaker guidance. 
  • Cultivate academic, health system, and association partnerships to expand reach. 

Data, Budget & Operations 

  • Works with the CEO and NPWH Marketing Team to optimize pricing, advertising, and portfolio mix. 
  • Manages CE activities including developing timelines, standard operating procedures and comprehensive project plans 
  • Ensures appropriate allocation of resources both monetary and personnel 

Team Leadership 

  • Build a collaborative, high-performance culture centered on service, equity, and accountability. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Nursing background by education (e.g., RN/BSN, MSN, DNP, NPD) or substantial experience leading education within a nursing or healthcare professional association, schools of nursing. 
  • Demonstrated experience in CE provider/approver program management in nursing, academia, or health professions education. 
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards for healthcare professional education and principles of adult learning. 
  • Proven success leading scientific meetings and managing a portfolio of learning activities that includes live, virtual and recorded sessions. 
  • Experience with LMS platforms, virtual event platforms , and using data/analytics for program improvement. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Background or experience in nursing/health care education highly desired. 
  • Preferred credentials include MSN/DNP with focus on education, Nursing Professional Development (NPD)certification or Certified Healthcare Continuous Professional Development Professional (CHCP) certification. 
  • Familiarity with quality improvement frameworks and instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM).
