Alexandria, VA (Hybrid Position)

The Director of Grants & Contracts will lead and manage all incoming grants, procurement policies, and contractual agreements with nonprofit partners, vendors, and corporate donors. This individual will play a key role in ensuring compliance, mitigating financial risk, and streamlining processes to optimize efficiency and impact. The ideal candidate has experience managing multiple complex contracts and grants, is meticulous with details, and thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. This position report to the Chief Finance Officer.

Key Responsibilities 

Grants Management 

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of all grants, from proposal development to compliance, reporting, and closeout. 
  • Ensure all grant-related activities align with Good360’s financial and operational goals. 
  • Work closely with the Development and Program teams to review grant agreements and assess feasibility. 
  • Track grant deliverables, financial obligations, and reporting deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. 
  • Monitor fund utilization, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions and federal/state regulations. 

Contracts & Procurement 

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage all contracts with nonprofit partners, vendors, and corporate donors. 
  • Establish and enforce procurement policies to ensure fiscal responsibility, accountability, and transparency. 
  • Ensure contracts are structured to mitigate risk while fostering strong, long-term partnerships. 
  • Develop contract templates and policies to streamline processes and maintain compliance. 

Compliance & Risk Management 

  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and private funding requirements, ensuring adherence to OMB Uniform Guidance and other applicable regulations. 
  • Conduct internal audits and financial reviews to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions. 
  • Work closely with the CFO, legal counsel, and external auditors to ensure all agreements and grants meet compliance standards. 
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accountability, and reporting accuracy. 

Collaboration & Leadership 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on grant and contract administration, providing strategic guidance to the Finance and Development teams. 
  • Train staff on compliance best practices, financial stewardship, and procurement policies. 
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure smooth coordination between Finance, Development, Programs, and Legal teams. 
  • Stay informed on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in grant and contract management. 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in grants administration, contract management, or procurement, preferably in a nonprofit or corporate philanthropy setting. 
  • Strong understanding of federal and foundation grant compliance, financial reporting, and procurement policies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex grants and contracts simultaneously with exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Experience negotiating and drafting contracts, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance with financial and legal requirements. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a variety of stakeholders. 
  • Proficiency in financial management systems, grant tracking software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Salary 

Starting $145,000 - Base plus Annual Bonus
