POSITION SUMMARY:
The Public Relations Specialist supports the Communications & Public Relations team to coordinate and execute Project HOPE’s PR and thought leadership strategy to raise awareness of the organization’s expertise in global health and humanitarian aid. This individual will research and manage thought leadership opportunities, write communications materials, support policy & advocacy efforts, and identify and support conference and awards opportunities. This individual should have a passion for global health, humanitarian issues, and/or policy and be comfortable working cross-functionally and marketing.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In collaboration with Senior Director of Communications & Public Relations, collaborate and support senior leadership and subject matter experts to identify and develop thought leadership opportunities that reflect the organization’s mission and vision
- Raise awareness of Project HOPE’s subject matter experts to strengthen brand awareness with policymakers, partners, sector leaders, and donors
- Project manage the strategy for advancing and supporting speaking engagements, executive communications, events, policy initiatives, and awards
- Draft and edit op-eds, speeches, blogs, and talking points in support of executives and spokespeople
- Assist in planning and promoting events, webinars, and conferences that showcase the organization’s work
- Support media relations efforts to raise Project HOPE’s profile and audience, including cultivating relationships with relevant media, developing outreach strategies, and prepping spokespeople
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree – preferably in Communications/Public Relations, Public Policy, or International Relations
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications or public relations, preferably within health or international development sectors
- Experience developing and implementing strategic communications and thought leadership content
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communications skills
- Demonstrate initiative, muti-tasking abilities, problem-solving skills, and professional maturity
- Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong working relationships across teams, departments, and time zones
- Impeccable organizational skills that enable rapid prioritization and execution of many urgent tasks
- A “can-do” attitude and the ability to work through ambiguous and fluid situations
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, as necessary

Work environment:
- Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level.
- Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions.
- Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation.
- While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.
- Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.”
Salary range starting at $67,000 USD per year based on candidates residing in the US. Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate’s location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
