Job Summary:
American Bible Society (ABS) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven Senior Manager, Mass Fundraising Operations to lead the execution, coordination, and operational performance of ABS’ Direct Mail program.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Mass Fundraising, this role is responsible for translating approved strategy, budgets, and priorities into well-executed Direct Mail campaigns across acquisition, cultivation, reactivation, recurring giving, and acknowledgements. The Senior Manager ensures campaigns are delivered accurately, efficiently, on schedule, and in alignment with donor experience standards, organizational priorities, and fiscal goals.
This role is ideal for a strong Direct Mail professional who excels at managing complexity, coordinating stakeholders, overseeing vendors, and driving disciplined execution in a high-volume fundraising environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Mail Operations & Campaign Execution
- Manage the end-to-end execution of Direct Mail campaigns, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to approved strategy, budgets, and schedules.
- Coordinate campaign workflows including segmentation, creative development, production, approvals, coding, and deployment.
- Maintain and manage a high-volume Direct Mail calendar, prioritizing campaigns and resolving executional conflicts.
- Ensure all Direct Mail activities reflect ABS brand, voice, donor experience standards and compliance requirements.
- Management and execution of other traditional channel Mass fundraising as needed (e.g. phone)
- Vendor & Agency Coordination
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for Mass fundraising agencies and vendors.
- Manage day-to-day agency workflows, timelines, deliverables, and production schedules.
- Review agency work for accuracy, alignment, and readiness for approval by the Senior Director.
- Flag risks, delays, performance issues, or budget concerns and propose operational solutions.
- Budget Management & Financial Tracking
- Track Mass fundraising expenses against approved budgets and forecasts.
- Lead campaign-level financial performance, identifying variances and risks early and recommending mitigation strategies to protect outcomes.
- Drive forecasting and budget reviews by providing accurate, timely operational data.
- Ensure invoices, expenses, and financial documentation are accurate and submitted on time.
- Reporting, Analysis & Optimization Support
- Review channel and campaign performance reports, ensuring data accuracy and clarity.
- Lead the initial analysis of results, trends, and variances for review with the Senior Director.
- Direct testing and optimization efforts by coordinating test execution and documenting results.
- Maintain organized records of campaign performance, learnings, and benchmarks.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with Marketing, Finance, Ministry Programs, and Development colleagues to ensure smooth campaign execution and alignment.
- Oversee campaign inputs and approvals across teams, ensuring deadlines and expectations are met.
- Ensure omnichannel alignment by ensuring Direct Mail campaigns integrate effectively with related Development and Marketing initiatives.
- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Proactively identify, prioritize, and lead the implementation of improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within Mass Fundraising Operations. Document and refine operational processes, workflows, and best practices.
- Stay current on direct mail and nonprofit mass fundraising operations trends and apply relevant improvements to ABS’s operating model.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in integrated direct response marketing.
- At least 3 years of experience in nonprofit Direct Mail fundraising operations.
- Demonstrated success managing complex campaign workflows in a Mass Fundraising environment.
- Experience working with external agencies and vendors.
- Technical & Professional Skills:
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of Direct Mail KPIs, reporting, and basic analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; experience with CRM or fundraising databases preferred.
- Clear communicator with strong follow-through and issue escalation instincts

Physical Demands/Work Environment
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional walking and standing are often necessary in carrying out job duties.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at a time (meeting materials, etc.).
